Drag the GIF into the Mail email screen. Type about 3-5 blank spaces after the image on the same line and then typed a greeting. Highlight the words in the greeting and changed the font size. Play around with changing the font type without changing the size and that worked as well. The whole key to success is doing SOMETHING to the default font. If you leave the default font and size alone, the GIF won’t animate. As a test, only change the font size of the first character of the greeting and then went back to the default size, leaving the default font as it was. The animation still worked. Try to embed the GIF in the middle of a line after changing the font size and that worked too, although it looked pretty silly because the image changed the line spacing.
